About
Punk Dad Stills is the creative space I’ve built around photography, timelapses, and music.
Music has been part of my life since I was young, and it’s shaped the way I naturally approach creativity. It’s something I’ve always returned to in different forms, and it still plays a big role in how I express ideas and energy.
Photography came later, starting as a simple way to spend more time outdoors. I was drawn to landscapes, sunsets, and the changing light at the end of the day—those quieter moments that encourage you to slow down and take notice of what’s around you.
That interest gradually led into night photography, and then astrophotography, which opened up an entirely different way of seeing the world. What started with trying to capture the Milky Way turned into a deeper technical journey, eventually leading to building a custom astrophotography rig for deep-space imaging. These days, a lot of my time is spent working under clear skies, capturing nebulae and long exposure data that exists far beyond what we can see with the naked eye.
I’ve always been drawn to things that sit just outside normal perception—light trails on a dark highway, the movement of stars across the sky, or deep-space objects rendered in SHO palette that echo images from space telescopes. There’s something grounding about working with subjects that are so vast and distant, yet still accessible through patience and process.
Each part of my creative work has its own rhythm. Astrophotography is technical and precise, shaped by timing, conditions, and patience. Landscape photography is more intuitive—often about being in the right place and letting the moment unfold naturally. Music is more immediate again, usually captured in first takes where possible, before overthinking takes over.
Across all of it, there’s a consistent thread: noticing moments that are easy to miss, and giving them space to exist on their own terms.
My kids are a constant source of inspiration in that way as well—helping keep things curious, grounded, and present.
